Who we are looking for?

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic self-motivated individual to enhance their skills and knowledge working on various types of pumps and pumping equipment within the Mackay and Bowen Basin Region.

The successful candidate can expect to work with another tradesperson from Monday – Friday with additional on-call service 24/7 for emergencies and breakdowns. Accommodation and meals are provided at Nebo.

Location: Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment - MACKAY

Candidates will require the ability to:

  • Operate and maintain pump stations and surrounds 
  • Maintain approximately 120km of pipeline
  • Operate and maintain 16 Bores
  • Supervision of contractors on-site
  • Reporting and weekly / monthly / quarterly inspections
  • Housekeeping and general maintenance of station, office, compound as well as pipeline and bore field areas
  • Have initiative, work independently and within a team
  • Communicate effectively and have strong attention to detail
  • Adhere to strict safety standards, follow corporate work procedures and policies

To be eligible for this position, candidates must:

  • Be a qualified Trades Person 
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ mechanical experience (experience with pumps / valves an advantage)
  • Water management experience an advantage
  • Hold a current manual Driver’s License (MR Licence an advantage)
  • Be willing to undertake a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol
  • Be legally permitted to work in Australia

The following experience / qualifications will be an advantage:

  • Forklift / Dogger / Rigger licence
  • Coal Board Medical
  • Standard 11 Generics
  • Confined Space
  • Working at Heights
  • Supervisor S123 and G2 competencies
  • Poly Welding competencies
  • Operate Light Vehicle competency
